This was no summer camp, no game of paint ball, and no war game.
“Definitely
not,” said Guelph MP Frank Valeriote as he recounted his three days of
army training in Wainwright, Alberta last week.
“It was an
eye-opener for me. It’s not an easy life in the military. You
understand that better when you walk in their shoes for a while.”
Valeriote
took advantage of a program offered to Members of Parliament and
attended the training camp, where he trained and “fought” alongside
full-time soldiers and army reservists.
