Water is vital to human health and the health of the environment. Water is also the life blood of the economy.
According
to the 2009 Canadian Water Attitudes Survey, “the majority of Canadians
-53 per cent - rank freshwater as the country's most important natural
resource”; ahead of forests, agriculture, oil, and fisheries.
There
is a growing desire among Canadians everywhere to see water addressed
in national terms; in other words, on a scale worthy of water's
significance as a resource and symbol of our national identity.
